Founding story
Matinata was created for a clear need in skincare: a pure, natural, organic line that could deliver the kind of results women expect from high-performance, conventionally formulated prestige care — with the textures and sensorial luxury of that world, and the integrity of certified organic ingredients.
The formulas were developed as active organic skincare nutrition: every ingredient chosen on purpose, present at meaningful concentrations, composed to work in harmony. Cold-pressed oils, hydrosols, and proven actives — multi-level hydration, barrier comfort, luminous lipids — made in small batches in Croatia and sheltered in Miron violet glass. ECOGEA Organic and CosmEthically ACTIVE sit behind that promise: organic integrity and active performance, together.
That work began with Ivanka Ćosić-Prižmić, an engineer who returned to cosmetic chemistry, in scientific partnership with Prof. Dr. Nina Kočevar Glavač of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana — with support from European research funding. Natalie Boll now stewards the house from Mainz so those standards — and that feeling of balanced, soft, calm skin — remain intact for the women who wear the ritual.

Who leads the house
Natalie Boll
Founder & steward of Matinata · Skincare nutritionist
Natalie Boll is the Canadian and British founder who leads Matinata from Mainz, Germany — bringing to organic skincare the same instinct she brings to biodynamic gardening, wild plants, and the way she cooks at home: real ingredients, chosen on purpose, nothing extra for show.
Across a life in film and television, and in building Tribela, Natalie has always worked at the meeting point of craft and care. A mother in her forties with sensitive skin, she came to believe that longevity is not a project of correction, but the quieter practice of nourishing what is already alive — food for the body, intentional formulas for the skin, and a little more gentleness with herself as the years gather. That philosophy is what she now calls skincare nutrition: plants, chemistry, women’s health, and the best skin as we age.
When she encountered Matinata’s six formulas, she recognised the rare feeling of skin that was balanced, soft, and calm. She took stewardship of the house to protect what makes that feeling possible — intentional botanicals, small-batch production, Miron glass, and recipes built to work in harmony — and to offer that ritual to women who want certified organic, CosmEthically ACTIVE care that feels as considered as the rest of their lives. Natalie lives in Mainz, Germany, with her family, where she continues to garden, cook, and lead Matinata.

ECOGEA is an independent organic certification for cosmetics. It sets clear rules for how natural and organically farmed ingredients are used — and it asks brands to be transparent about it. CosmEthically ACTIVE is a different kind of proof — and a rarer one.
